The Templeton family of Fort Worth found their home ransacked on May 7. In broad daylight, burglars had stolen jewelry, electronics and even the daughter’s babysitting money. But they lost something they feared they’ll never replace: their 4-month-old dog, Petey.

The daughter Ava Templeton at the time said, “We’ve only had him for a small amount of time, but, really, he’s made a huge impact on our family.”

And thanks to the Fort Worth Police Department, Petey can keep making a bigger impact.

The department announced recently that officers had found Petey safe before reuniting him with his family.

“Safe and sound and back home!,” read a post on the department’s Facebook page. It was accompanied with a photo featuring the elated family reunited with their beloved pup.

The post also included a big “shout out to West Division officers and detectives” who found the pup.

Scared They’ll Never See Petey Again

The family had thought the worse after their pooch went missing following the burglary.

“It’s pretty dramatic to have him gone,” Julia Templeton said then, “and to just think somebody would come and take your family dog is pretty disrupting.”
