Mya is an adorable two-year-old pooch, who has no idea she looks just like a wild fox. It’s hard to tell she’s a dog at first – only a collar and a pair of piercing blue eyes give her away. On the other hand, they make Mya look even foxier.

Mya’s Rise to Internet Fame

Dave Lascio, Mya’s owner, made an Instagram account just for her. His blue-eyed pooch first went viral after Buzzfeed made a post about her fox-like appearance. And, apparently, Dave was the last one to find out about Mya’s 15 minutes of fame.

He told the Huffington Post that a friend messaged him saying “Dude, your dog is taking over the Internet! She’s all over the place.”

What Breed is Mya?

According to Larscio, Mya is a cross between a Siberian Husky and a Pomeranian – a Pomsky.

Mya didn’t look like a fox all of her life. Pomkys are known to change fur color as they grow up. As a matter of fact, she might look a lot different next year. But, as of right now, she is unique.

The cross-breed isn’t too popular because there’s no way to distinguish how big a Pomky puppy will grow up to be. Some pups tends to grow up to twice the size of their smallest siblings.

Where can you get a ‘fox dog’?

When a dog breed becomes trendy, some people buy puppies on a whim and abandon them shortly after. In the early 2000’s, Chihuahuas were the nation’s most popular dogs (mostly as a fashion accessory.) By the end of the decade, shelters were filled with them.

Larcio takes good care of Mya and he didn’t buy her as a novelty. Being a dog owner is a serious responsibility. And, in the case of Pomskies, buying one from a breeder is like playing the lotto.

Remember, you can eliminate the guess work and forget about the price tag by adopting. It’s always a great idea to visit your local dog shelter before deciding to buy a puppy.
